Employers Face Earlier Deadlines for Reporting Health Insurance Information in 2017

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will not extend the due dates for 2016 information related to compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The due date for furnishing the 2016 Form 1095-B and the 2016 Form 1095-C to the insured and/or employees is January 31, 2017.

The due date for health coverage providers and employers furnishing the 2016 Form 1094-B and the 2016 Form 1094-C to the IRS is February 28, 2017, if not filing electronically. The due date for health coverage providers and employers electronically filing the 2016 Form 1094-B and the 2016 Form 1094-C with the IRS is March 31, 2017. The IRS will impose a $500 penalty for incorrect, inaccurate, or late forms distributed to employees or filed with the IRS.
