CPI For All Items Increases 0.1%, Real Average Hourly Earnings Increase 0.2% in December

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 0.1 percent, while real average hourly earnings for all employees increased 0.2 percent from November to December.
Real average weekly earnings increased 0.2 percent over the month due to the increase in real average hourly earnings combined with no change in average weekly hours. From December 2016 to December 2017, real average hourly earnings increased 0.1 percent, seasonally adjusted. The increase in real average hourly earnings combined with a 0.6-percent increase in the average workweek resulted in a 0.7-percent increase in real average weekly earnings over this period.
