Employer Pays Over $650K in Back Wages Following FLSA Violations

An investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division found that Hankook Tire Manufacturing Tennessee LP violated overtime and record keeping provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Investigators discovered that the company failed to pay employees overtime rates until they worked over 45 hours a week. Hankook has paid over $650,000 in back wages and damages to 136 employees and are conducting a review of their payroll system.The FLSA requires overtime be paid when non-exempt employees work more than 40 hours in a work week.
